Distributing personal care electronics in Europe requires navigating two distinct regulatory frameworks — CE marking for the EU and UKCA certification for the UK post-Brexit. CE Marking: EU Requirements

CE marking indicates a product meets EU health, safety, and environmental protection standards. For electric toothbrushes, this covers the Low Voltage Directive (LVD), Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Directive, and RoHS compliance. CE marking must be applied by the manufacturer and supported by a Declaration of Conformity and technical documentation.

UKCA Certification: UK Post-Brexit

Since January 2021, products sold in Great Britain require UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking instead of CE. The technical requirements are largely equivalent, but the certification process is separate. Distributors selling into both EU and UK markets need products carrying both marks — or separate SKUs for each market.
